Teletronix LA-2A Leveling Amplifier Revision 2B #1187 Vintage Original 1960s

Teletronix LA-2A has been a centerpiece of all self respecting recording and mixing studios for over half a century, yet its relevance in the modern audio industry is higher than ever. It is hard to even contemplate the amount of plugins and hardware clones modelled after this unit, but now there is really no need, as the real deal is here.

With the program-dependent attack/release times and ratio, very intuitive front panel controls, whatever you feed into this unit, in return you will get pure gold.

For the past 25 years this very unit was in a multiple times Grammy nominated and Grammy award-winning studio. It has been taken care of very well and it has been regularly maintained through the years by a professional technician. It has been frequently used for bass during mix, to get that fat warm sound. It's also an amazing tool for vocal recordings.

Revision 2B – Teletronix patent is licensed from Babcock Electronics by Bill Putnam Sr. / Studio Electronics.

This is the vintage original Bill Putnam's era Studio Electronics Corporation's silverface LA-2A fro the late 1960s. The unit has been carefully tested, cleaned, restored and calibrated by our tech team to be as close to the original condition as possible. Unit is kept as close to the original as possible, no changes were done to improve or change its behaviour.


Passive parts original, also electrolytes. I/O is terminated to XLR cables.

Power transformer changed to original style 230VAC E core unshielded, it looks and measures very close to original. Input and output potentiometers opened and cleaned.

Equipped with NOS T4A Opto Attenuator.

Also some spare NOS tubes are included:

2 pcs Philips CV4004 (12AX7/ECC83), Sylvania 12BH7, General Electric 6AQ5A/6HG5.

PSU works on 230V. Unit can be re-wired for 115V or similar mains voltage, but this has to be done by soldering and re-arranging the transformer wires.

US and EU parcels ship via UPS, ETA 1-7 working days from pickup day zero. That also applies to most locations worldwide.

Bigger shipments requiring pallets or custom made crates ship to US, CA, JP, CN, AU and other outside of EU locations via DHL Air Freight, ETA is normally approx. 7-14 working days from pickup day zero.

Big shipments inside EU ship via different freight companies, recently mostly via ACE Logistics. Freight forwarders can use different courier companies for deliveries to final destinations.

Palletising and crating time can vary depending on the size of the shipment and packaging queue. We pack all our shipments with great care.
