Neumann KM86i FET Condenser Microphone from 1967

The Neumann KM86 is a compact condenser microphone featuring a dual-capsule head assembly. It offers three selectable polar patterns—omni, cardioid, and figure-8—via a switch located just below the capsule assembly.

In cardioid mode, the KM86 mirrors the exceptional performance of the KM84 microphone. In figure-8 mode, it provides accurate low-frequency response even for distant sound sources, surpassing the limitations of conventional dual-membrane designs. This makes it particularly suitable for situations where the microphone cannot be positioned closer than three feet to the source.

This vintage gem has just been serviced at Neumann, where it has been restored to perfect condition and has gotten a Neumann service certificate. Includes a Neumann wooden box and an original adaptor.

Typical fragile part, -10 dB pad switch bar and - spring were changed to new.
The microphone also includes NOS Upper wire mesh cage by Neumann.
