The Trident A-Range rack unit captures the unmistakable tone and engineering philosophy of the legendary Trident “A” Range console in a compact two-channel format. Each channel combines a discrete microphone/line amplifier with the classic four-band A-Range equaliser, allowing the unit to shape signals from microphones, instruments or line-level sources before feeding a DAW, analog multitrack recorder, or high-end converter.
This is not a modern reinterpretation. The rack version follows the original console architecture component by component, recreating the fully discrete transistor signal path that defined the sound of the early Trident desks. PMI Audio Group spent more than three years analysing original modules and circuitry to reproduce the design with absolute accuracy.
The result is a recording tool that carries the sonic fingerprint of one of the rarest and most respected consoles ever built. Only thirteen original A-Range consoles were produced. Despite their age, several remain in daily studio use today, a testament to the robustness and timeless musicality of the design.
The Trident A-Range console became part of recording history through albums by artists such as Elton John, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Rod Stewart and Stevie Wonder. The rack version brings that same character, punch and harmonic depth into a modern studio environment.
