The SA-2A is the most accurate and faithful recreation of the classic UREI LA-2A compressor from the 1960s available today. For over 60 years, the LA-2A has remained one of the most coveted vocal compressors in professional audio, and for good reason. Its iconic tube circuitry, transformers, and signature T4B optical element impart a warm, musical quality that enhances nearly any signal, often just by passing audio through the unit.

At the heart of the compression circuit is the US-made Kenetek T4B opto element, which uses a unique photocell with distinctive attack and release characteristics. The result is the instantly recognizable smooth, natural compression with a slow release that sets the LA-2A apart from any other compressor ever made.

Tubes played a critical role in shaping the original LA-2A’s sound, and the SA-2A+ continues that tradition. As long as supply allows, the unit comes equipped with:
• NOS 12AX7 and NOS 12BH7 tubes in the audio path
• JJ 12AX7 and NOS 6AQ5 in the control circuit

These hand-selected tubes offer superior tonal quality compared to modern alternatives and contribute to the rich, open sound that engineers love.
