xmax brings a clever analog approach to stereo bus control, combining Class A circuitry with internal Mid/Side processing for precise dynamics work without losing the musical feel of the source.

At the heart of the unit is a multiband compressor that separates the signal into low, mid, and side bands, giving you direct control over the parts of the mix that matter most. The low band helps lock in weight and focus at the bottom, the mid band is ideal for shaping punch, presence, and impact, and the side band lets you work the stereo image with impressive ease.

A soft clipper derived from elysia’s well-known alpha compressor allows you to push the signal harder while helping to protect against clipping at external A/D converters. It is a very practical addition, especially when you want more density and energy without sacrificing control.

Clear, high-quality analog meters give you instant visual feedback for level, compression, and clipping across each band, making xmax as easy to read as it is rewarding to use.

Although it is an obvious fit on the master bus, xmax is far from a one-purpose machine. It can bring authority to drum buses, focus to vocal or instrument groups, and extra dimension to stereo sources that need width, glue, or a little more excitement.
